At least that's what Kendall said we were going to the pumpkin patch to pick. A pumpkin pie.
We took our second annual trip to the pumpkin patch with some friends.
Here's all our friends minus one. Collin was ready to board the hay ride and didn't have time for any photo opps! Pictured is Drew (her classmate who affectionately - and accurately - refers to K as "Miss Kendall"), Kendall, Branton, Sam, Olivia and Katie.
After seeing the farm animals it was time to board the trailer for the much anticipated hay ride. But where's Collin, the one looking forward to it the most???
Oh my. Should we be scared?!
We made a stop at the patch to pick a pumpkin.
And run through a hay maze.
Olivia is a sweet friend!

Fall Fun
Last week we enjoyed a great fall (kinda fallish, a little on the warm side, though not as rediculous as my last post) afternoon at Papa and Gigi's local town fall festival. Mommy enjoys browsing the craft booths while Kendall looks forward to food and train rides. I was super excited about all the tons of cute (and overpriced) girl clothes I'd see since this year I could claim, "I can make that!" There wasn't much clothes this year but I did manage to knock out a few Christmas presents.
I did a quick impromptu photo shoot of Kendall on the way to get more food.
Here she is showing off Bullseye. (She named him. I asked Gabe where in the world she knew the word bullseye. Of course it's Woody's horse on Toy Story he reminded me. Duh.)
She won Bullseye here...

Friends
I am so serious when I say God has blessed me with such wonderful friends. There are several women in my life who I know I could count on and who encourage me in my walk with Christ.
Recently God called me out of one season and led our family into a new one. I suspended our women's bible study that we had been doing for over five years (that was really sad for me but I know the timing was right) so that Gabe and I joined a discipleship group that is newly forming in our church. And these are the awesome women with whom I have the privilege of praying with, praying for, encouraging and being encouraged by. (They're all already BFFs which makes it even sweeter.)
Pictured is Priscilla, Leslie, me, Danielle and Tiffany, plus a few of the kiddos. One friend, Karin, is missing which would have made our little group complete.
And, THIS is my specialist, most favoritest bestie on the planet, Danielle.
Y'all, she has been there for me through some stuff. And she is such a godly, wise woman. Gabe and I affectionately refer to her as Dr. Danielle when it comes to advice from colicy newborns to strong willed toddlers or any type of incurred drama. Seriously, her advice has been that good that she has earned the title. She's the kinda friend that would jump at a moment's notice if you needed anything. You know, the friend that has a key to your house, roots for your SEC team (unless they're playing each other. Gotta draw a line in the sand somewhere. But this Roll Tide girl is forgiven due to the fact that she grew up in Tuscaloosa which makes her a Bama fan by default. Same here...Geaux Tigers!), follows all your pinterest boards, and is affectionately referred to as the other half of your brain. She keeps me sane, keeps me laughing, and keeps me on track. She has style and class. She totally gets my sense of humor, knows my struggles, rejoices with me on the mountain tops, and journeys with me through the valleys. And I totally trust her decorating skills. (She's the only one with free reign in that department so that's a huge honor.) She shares my passion of raising and teaching children, both her own and others, and shares my world views. She desires godliness and seeks God with all her heart. She's such an awesome friend and I pray that I am the same in return (though I could never be as sassy and stylish and classic).
When I think back over the last ten years of my life and see God's hand leading me in all things I am amazed at His goodness and thankful for His abundant blessings. I am reminded that I can trust His guidance even when I don't understand and can't see the next step. And I'm so thankful for those in my life who are on the journey with me.

She Nailed It
You ever had your brain just swim with thoughts, some deep, some not so much, but they were so hidden inside that you couldn't express it in words and get it out? That's how I've felt lately. Many times I've wanted to blog about some thoughts, but the words just weren't coming. Ok, so maybe that's a round about way of saying I've had writers block lately. Today I read a post by a friend and she nailed it. So instead of trying to drum up my own words which has been seemingly difficult for me lately, I'm taking the liberty of posting hers. Thanks, Lindsey. You said it so well...
Day 13 Reality Bites
Remember that movie from the 90s called Reality Bites? I never really watched the entire movie but I sure loved the soundtrack. There is so much truth to that short statement. Reality DOES bite...sometimes like a mean ol' pit bull. I've been reminded lately that life isn't always perfect. In fact, it rarely is. My life is really good. I have absolutely no reason to complain but every now and then, reality bites and the storm clouds come rollin' in. The truth is not everyone is going to like me. I'm going to disappoint and hurt the people I love. I'm going to be gossiped about and I'm going to gossip about someone else (although I really HATE when I do that). My kids are going to get in trouble at school. I'm going to say a curse word once-in-a-while. Money will be tight. The weight will have a hard time coming off. And I'll burn dinner badly enough we'll all have to eat pb&j sandwiches. But God never promised that life would be easy. He warns us in Scripture that "in this life you will have trouble." I believe the lessons in life come down to one thing. The issue is when reality DOES bite, what do I do with the dog? It's tempting to kick the dog and lock it away in the dog house. But that never eliminates the problem. Life will bring problems. Life will have its share of storms. But what do YOU do when it starts to rain? Do you complain about getting wet OR do you praise Him in the storm?
Lord, I want to learn to praise You in the storm. I want to learn to be grateful for when times are good and grateful for when times are bad. And when this life brings me trouble, help me to keep my eyes on what is eternal. Remind me what your Scripture says. "For our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all. So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen. For what is unseen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal." -2 Corinthians 4:17-18 (NIV)
Lindsey is a friend from WAY back in middle school. We haven't seen each other in years, yet her friendship over the last few years via blogs and facebook has been such a blessing. You should check out her blog here for encouragement and the truth. So many times her words have spoken volumes to me. She's one wise woman!

Oooh...Another One!
I'm so excited to be an "Aunt" Carey again! My BFF who is practically my sister, Jennifer and her husband, Lee, just had their first this week. Sweet Grayson is as cute as he can possibly be.
You think maybe Lee is a tad bit excited and proud??
And here's Jenn holding Grayson for the first time.
And I finally got my turn to hold and feed him...two days later. Had to fight off a Nana to do it!
I asked Kendall what she was going to teach Grayson, and she said, "how to dry his hair." He has a head full already, so as soon as he can sit up I'm sure he'll be getting salon treatments from Kendall and her princess hair salon kit.
So now my count of nephews is up to THREE!
Here's my other sweet boys, my other BFF Danielle's boys, Caleb and Collin:
I'm one proud little aunt! I love these boys to pieces! And add in my one "real" niece, and I am one blessed little aunt.
