So we've been working on potty training around here. And I must say that we've made good progress. The whole "Potty Training Boot Camp" wasn't real successful so we've changed tactics. I must say how proud of Kendall I am (knock on wood). She's made great progress at home, but neither of us are brave enough yet to venture elsewhere without the trusty ole diaper.
So anyway.
At school Kendall uses the potty about fifty percent of the time. One day last week her sweet teacher, Mrs. Leisa, walked over to Kendall who was having a tea party with her friend, Paige.
"Kendall," Mrs. Leisa said, "if you need to go potty, let me know and I'll take you."
To which Kendall replied very tactfully and matter of factly, "I can't right now. I'm having coffee with Paige."
And I have no comments.

Crazy
Ok. Here's what's crazy. Two weeks ago we have our fingers crossed for snow. Half the city is shutting down. Sheer panic and anticipation (depends if you're a school kid or a government worker) fills the streets. Walmart sells out of milk and bread.
This week? It's ALMOST warm enough to bust out the swim suits.
Instead, Kendall and Mommy sport sunglasses while soaking in some much needed vitamin D in the backyard, since, after all, "Mommy, the sun makes my eyes huwt. I need my sun gasses." Diamond studded of course.

More Kendall Conversations
Kendall, singing from car seat: It's me, it's me, oh Lord, stan needa payer.
Mommy (racking her brains since she hasn't thought of that song in at least ten years): Did you learn that song at school??
Kendall: No, I learn Gigi's car.
------------------------------------------
Kendall while being tucked into bed for a nap: Mommy, geeeeet meeee. (in a pathetic voice)
Mommy: What do you need baby? (since Pink Minnie, Red Minnie, Rabbit and all her other essential stuffed nap time friends were safely tucked in along with her so WHAT ELSE could she possibly need?)
Kendall: Get me out of the bed. Please.
---------------------------------------------------
While reading a book about a girl and her grandparents Mommy asks: Kendall, who are YOUR grandparents?
Kendall: Papa and Gigi.
Mommy: Who else?
Kendall: D and Nana and Grandpa.
Mommy (unintentionally cutting her off) : That's right.
Kendall: And JuJu.

Lurve
{I apologize for the delayed post. We had technical difficulties around here, but we're back up and runnin'!}
Ok, is it possible for a two-year-old to have a c.r.u.s.h? Well if so then there is some major LURVE going on for my BFF's boy, Caleb. I mean, when she sees him her voice squeals his name about three octaves higher than normal. Seriously. And everything he says is hilarious [to her].
A few weeks ago Danielle watched Kendall while I ran a few errands, and this little girl didn't want to come home. Maybe it's because a FOUR-year-old gave her attention. Maybe it's just because it's plain fun to play with a new set of toys. But whatever the reason, she's been all about some Caleb (and Collin and Danielle) lately. And Caleb really was sweet and displayed much patience with a two-year-old. Caleb is in my Sunday school class this year, and I just love this boy to pieces. I can see why Kendall swoons. I probably would too if I were a preschooler. Caleb, as strong willed as he can be at times, is loving, compassionate and just downright friendly.
The following week it was my turn to watch the boys so Danielle could get some of her stuff done. We had a blast in the backyard with Sophie, though somehow sharing toys on one's own turn seemed to be slightly more difficult. sigh...
He even put up with all the pinkness.
And Caleb demonstrated how to really climb a tree. Kendall was enamored.
And this is the LAST time Kendall will be alone with a boy in a tent!
Speaking of LURVE...Kendall loved her Valentine basket. How did I have such a girly girl?? I love it more than I ever thought I would. But how?? I wasn't a tomboy by any means, but I wasn't all wrapped up in glitter, jewelry and all the fanciness of a little princess.
She checked out her suckers with her bracelet adorned arms.
One...two...three...four. Yep, had to count.
See the bracelet.
Time out for a sucker.
Happy Valentines Day, sweet little girl!

Sweet Collin...This boy runs at full speed 24/7.

Lucky Streak Ended?
So Kendall is not growing up in typical Deep South America, though she thinks she is. After all, normal is defined by personal experiences. Let's name all the not-so-typical experiences this Southern Belle has had in her 2.4 year existence:
- our beloved Saints win the Super Bowl!!
- it has snowed every winter since her birth-at least once
Except this year. The Saints didn'twin no make it to the big game this year. (We did both wear our Saints Super Bowl Champion shirts to this year's Super Bowl (yawn) party. We cheer for the Saints no matter what. Yep, even if they're not even planing.
But the real streak of luck she's had is the snowfall in 2009 (and another) and 2010. And this year we got reeeeeeal close again. But just aint gonna happen, folks.
Notice she's wearing her lucky shirt :-) Didn't happen. Barely a dusting.
Cranning her neck for a glimpse of a snowflake.
So what's a southern girl to do?? Make her own snow!
Kendall and Daddy had their own snow party in the middle of the den.
Ok. Fast forward about two weeks. THIS time our local, loved meteorologist has a more promising forecast for wintry precipitation (of a snowlike substance, Nana).
Decked out in her lucky t-shirt (again) and press on princess earrings, she belted a real sweet rendition of "If all the snowflakes were chocolate covered cupcakes."
Nope. No snow again. Oh well. There's always next year.
And for the Saints? There's always LAST year. And next year, too, of course. After all, it did freeze over you-know-where according to the Saint's broadcasters. So it's bound to happen again sometime here in the Southeast, right?

Kendall Conversations
Daddy: Kendall, I love you!
Kendall: I love me, too.
----------------------------------
Mommy: Kendall, spell your name for me.
Kendall: K-E-N-D-A-L -another L.
{And those Ls of hers?? They're pronounced "ay-el" Yes, she will be attending speech school at the grandparents in New Orleans this summer. D, Nana, Grandpa, JuJu? Y'all opened enrollment yet???}
-----------------------------------------
Kendall (from carseat): God made Jesus.
Firguring out how to answer affirmatively without getting into deep theological discussions of trinity and eternity and Creator God versus His creation, all while making a [legal] right turn on red,
Mommy: Yes, God made everything.
Kendall: God made animals.
Mommy: Yes, God made animals.
Kendall: Noah built boat for animals.
So she IS soaking up more than it seems with her nighlty Bible readings (which has mainly consisted of David and Goliath, her favorite right now) and her weekly take home sheet from church.
The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom, and knowledge of the Holy One is understanding. Proverbs 9:10
