The New House - Phase 2

Yea!! We're making tremendous progress on our house! And we're so ready to move in!

Very quickly our house went like this...

to this...!!!

There hasn't been one weather delay.  And everyone wonders why we're experiencing drought like conditions...HELLO!  The Gozas are building a house!

I've heard nightmare stories about building. So far we just haven't had any.  Yes, there's been moments where my mind was swimming in all the decision making.  And yes, there were a few hiccups that had to be resolved, fixed and/or re-thought.  But it's really been a smooth transition.  Maybe because I've been building our home in my head for five years?? Literally, five years.  I've mentally walked every square inch of that house over.  and over.  and over.  And I have Pinterest boards, one for each room.  And I have binders, and sketches, and notes.  And...I have the best builder around.  He's fabulous.

Gabe and I have actually had more fun and laughs and memories made than anything else.

We're just SO ready to be in this house that is just perfect for our family.

A Dolphin Birthday Surprise

As a surprise for Kendall (and her gift from Papa and Gigi) we look Kendall the day after her birthday, to the Mississippi Coast to the Center for Marine Education and Research center. None of us had ever been there, but Papa heard about it from a friend. And the trip certainly did not disappoint!

In addition to the general admission which includes a two hour tour,  Kendall received a special pass to have one on one time with a dolphin and its trainer.  Kendall got to go dockside and pet and feed the dolphin.  She was excited and a little nervous.  But she did it!!  And she loved it!!

Here's CJ...

And here's Kendall waiting on her private dolphin encounter...

Kendall and Gigi spent about twenty minutes with CJ and his trainer.

Kendall got to feed him,

and get him to do tricks.

This picture captures the pure joy and surprise on her face as CJ splashed them all.

In addition to the dolphin tour, we got to see other animals.  This parrot, Poppy, can do some pretty cool tricks herself...

We also visited the touch pool where we were given the opportunity (thought not all of us took advantage of it) to touch sting rays, crabs and starfish.

Daddy was quick to pet the sting ray.  Kendall finally worked up the nerve toward the end.  Brielle never did.  And Mommy did only because Kendall finally did.

Kendall also touched a horse shoe crab.  Mommy did too, but very quickly when she learned it's more closely related to the scorpion than the crab.

But Mommy did bravely pet the baby alligator.

Daddy and Papa and Gigi did.  Kendall didn't.  Brielle didn't.

And lastly we got to meet their sea lion who had some tricks of his own as well.

It was a fun day and a good reason to get out of town for the day.  And Kendall even got to see the beach, a complaint of hers all summer since we couldn't make the trip this year.

Happy 7th Birthday, Kendall!

It's so hard to believe that this precious girl is SEVEN!! I'm amazed at how much she has grown in just the past year.  She is truly becoming her own self and is developing interests and hobbies that I think will follow her a long time.

Here's a picture of Kendall at seven.  She..

... LOVES to draw and write.  I'm constantly buying reams of paper.  She couldn't care less for coloring books though.

... has a vivid imagination.

... still doesn't like to be laughed at (unless it's on her own terms).

... is in her third year of ballet, and moved up to the "lavender" group.

... began her first year of piano.  She's flying through the books and amazes her teacher each week.

... is a very strong reader, but not quite ready to read chapter books on her own yet.

... definitely has the teacher gene.  It's in her blood.  She can't NOT teach.

... plays school with Brielle every day.  Usually Kendall is the teacher and Brielle is the teacher assistant (go figure).  She uses her Frozen boom box mic as her intercom.

... makes worksheets in Word, and answers some incorrectly so she can grade it.  (teacher gene)

... is showing a singing ability.

... loves to watch Full House, Little House on the Prairie, I Love Lucy and Lawrence Welk.  (Only my child would be watching an episode of Here's Lucy and get the reference joke to Lawrence Welk.)

... writes notes to either her mom or dad almost daily.

... loves to swim.  This summer she learned to do flips and hand stands.  She's still working on her dive.

... claims to have several bffs... Hannah, Kenzie

... loves Friday night family movie night.

... learned to sing all the words to the Star Spangled Banner.

... has a grown up purse and wallet, in which she always totes a pack of gum.

... loves dolphins.

... still loves pink and purple.

... wanted taco soup for her birthday dinner (and Martha Stewart's blueberry crisp, which she saw on a cooking channel).

... wants to learn cursive.

... owns her first pair of Converse (hot pink, of course).

... refuses to wear ruffles and sometimes consents to a hair bow.

... loves crawfish etouffee.

... loves to sing in her karaoke machine.

... took her fist tennis lessons this summer.

... loves the beach.

... is not ready to pierce her ears.

... has lost eight teeth.

... has breakfast with daddy on Fridays before school.

... is interested in learning about George Washington and Abraham Lincoln.  (I think she'll be into American History because she also wants to go to NYC to see the Statue of Liberty.)

... learned for the first time this year of September 11, 2001 and Katrina.

... still thinks football is boring. (But knows she better cheer for the Saints or else she'll be kicked out of the house.)

... is a planner (over planner, actually).

... is overcoming her night fears.

... loves Kids Church.

... is an AWESOME big sister.  They play together all day every day.

... tries to teach Brielle everything she knows (sometimes Brielle cooperates, sometimes she pitches a fit, but usually she just tunes her out).

... loves the Children's museum.

... loves New Orleans.

... chose to be Elsa on Super Hero Day because, after all, "she saved all of Arendelle".

... is having a great first grade year.

... has a heart for God and His Word.

... is growing into a precious girl who loves the Lord and her family.

I pray daily for Kendall.  I have many verses I pray over her .  But the ones I pray the most are...

That Kendall will not be conformed to the pattern of this world, but would be transformed by the renewing of her mind.  That she will be able to test and approve what God's good, pleasing and perfect will is.  (Romans 12:2)

That Kendall would love the Lord her God with all her heart, soul, mind and strength.

That Kendall would follow God all the days of her life.

That Kendall would find the narrow road that leads to life.

That Kendall would confess with her mouth that Jesus Christ is Lord and believe in her heart that Jesus rose from the grave so that she might be saved.

I am so thankful that God entrusted this girl to us.  My mother's prayer is that she would be used mightily for God's kingdom, and that God would give me wisdom in disciplining her to help mold and shape her into the woman of God she was created to be.

I love you Kendall!  Happy Birthday, Love!
