Fortunately on this specific morning my OCD did not win. My OCD that sometimes keeps me from living in the now, or enjoying my children's somewhat challenging stages, or embracing the chaos, mess and overfilled days.
This specific morning as I was making my bed I came across this handprint on my throw.
This specific morning I stopped and thought about it. Ok, so maybe I sat down on the bench at the foot of my bed and wiped away a stray tear.
Brielle's handprint was evidence that moments before she had been crawling on my bed giving extra morning hugs. I know that all too soon she'll be too big for her abundant, squeeze tight "huggie hugs". One morning she won't run into the bathroom waiting for me to stop my make-up process to scoop her up and snuggle her. And I won't know when that last time will be until one day I realize that she hasn't been running in for her morning hugs for a while; one more daily ritual that will be banked away into my memory.
This morning I embraced it.. Because this morning I realized that "this morning" will all to soon be a distant memory in my organized, spotless and quiet house.
This morning I left the handprint on the bed all day. And the next morning I was sad to see it gone.
