Despite Daddy's best stalling efforts (which rivaled Kendall's bedtime antics) yet one more step toward big-girl-hood has taken place in our household...
Kendall got her Big Girl Bed!
Proud is an understatement as to how Kendall felt about her new sleeping arrangements.
Once Daddy realized that we were simply only taking the front railing off and adding a small railing in its place he was more on board with the decision. Mommy even bought Kendall new sheets, a comforter and a monogrammed pillow.
Kendall had a blast climbing in and out to test her new bed.
Then one more surprise. (Well, not really. I've been preparing her for weeks now.) Big girl beds are paci-free zones! When nap time rolled around and reality hit, Kendall gave me a priceless you've-got-to-be-kidding look. She took the news in stride, though, and only whined about ten minutes. (That was WAY easier than Mommy had planned. Wonder who was more attached to the paci???)
Mommy took Kendall's pictures at bedtime. Here she is snuggled in with her silky and animal of choice, a replica black poodle named Sophie, of course.
This is the look I was given when I asked Kendall to pretend to be asleep. Priceless. This is also the way she closes her eyes when we pray. For this very reason I cannot dare look at her since it's sure to make me crack up every time.
I must admit it was a exciting and a little saddening to Mommy. She now looks (and feels) like such a big girl! Look at her even "reading" a bedtime story to her stuffed Sophie.
It amazes me how she seems to learn something new every single day. Her vocabulary is developing rapidly, along with her spoken sentence structure. She definitely knows what she likes and dislikes and is not shy on sharing her opinions. She points out letters everywhere and counts to ten. (Though she skips over 4. Poor left out little 4.) Pretty soon she really will be reading to me in her bed.
Sweet dreams, Princess!
